This is the email I got from Elizabeth (she is a junior high teacher) yesterday. Hilarious:

I have 20 kids in detention. They are driving me insane. It’s lovely having the 20 “best” kids in one room. Ha, ha. Actually, there’s one key kid that’s NOT in here, so it’s not too terribly bad. At least I won’t have to do it the rest of the year. Heidi’s had Math Counts on Thursdays, so I’ve covered her 2 weeks. She owes me.

Detention. I only had it once in my life. Now we (well Elizabeth anyway!) are in charge of detention. Haha.

It’s Friday. Time for the weekend. And no 2nd jobbie for me this weekend so I am a happy girl! This week was great. Some highlights:

  • Going to the ASAE luncheon and hearing Dale Bumpers speak. He is old, but he rocks hard core. I think some conservatives in the room might have disagreed.
  • Lunch was at Chenal Country Club so I got to see the site for Audra and Mike’s wedding reception. Very nice.
  • USGBC (green building council) lunch yesterday at Next Level Events… the first event I have really “planned” (helped plan?) at my new job. All was successful! Yea!
  • Hanging out and playing dice w/ Elizabeth and Annie. That was fun.

Ummm…. Obligatory Weekend plans include: Tonight is HAPPY HOUR at Senor's w/ Susan and some Arkansas Business friends! yea! Saturday is George Strait. I am unfortunately NOT going to Fort Smith to try out for Survivor. =( Why can’t they come to Little Rock?

i only had detention once too. i think it was for not locking my locker or something stupid like that.
yeah it is strange survivor is going to fort smith instead of little rock. i'm telling you, we should send in a tape instead.

I don't think I ever had detention. And now I have it all the time. What the heck is up with that? I technically have it right now...
SEND IN A TAPE for Survivor. I will tape it for both of you. Seriously. I will help. DO IT.

They're having try-outs in Fort Smith?! Wow. Elizabeth, you should go; it'd be like teacher planning/research for your classes next semester, right? Maybe the school would comp you....KAT, you need to go! I would totally watch it if one of ya'll were a contestant. That'd be awsome. I'll use your Strait ticket if it makes you feel better. :)

lol...i agree that you should try out for survivor 37:some other random island with a weird name- it's the only way i'd actually watch that show! i want to see pics of roxy!

i was a total goody-2-shoes in school- i never once had detention or any sort of disciplinary action like that. got sent to the principal ONCE in like 4th grade for being too loud in the gym with some people or something...they didnt even send home a letter. :D

Kristen and I had to run laps in the courtyard one time for being disruptive in art. Whatever. We had to keep running till the 3rd girl faked a throw-up attack in the bathroom cause it was "too much." It made the principal feel bad... and probably fear a lawsuit.

that was the best. we were stacking markers and the teacher just coudlnt' handle it. she kept yelling, "Stop stacking markers!" I mean come on...is that sooo bad.

i almost had detention in the 6th grade for lying about chewing gum with erin after lunch...she told the truth, and i tried to lie my way out of it. senior year at msm i did get detention for roaming the halls after a french field trip (that's right, wpwt)! i don't even remember what the detention was like, just that it was in mrs. hammond's room...

I remember that Crazy Art teacher. What was her name? She Sent me to the office once and Mr. P did not even do anything because he knew it was complete crap. She was the worst teacher EVER!!!

i want to go to the George Strait concert!!! He kissed my check and let me wear his cowboy hat when I was a little girl....I know you are all jealous :-)

If George tried to kiss me on the cheek, I'd turn my face real quick and plant one right on the kisser! :) Seth, you don't read this, do you?

I served a little bit of time in D-Hall..that's what we called it at Good Ol NLRHS, but I definitely ran more laps from getting in trouble at soccer practice....that actually stretched on into college. Imagine the punishment of running line drills over and over and over because you and teammates were caught drinking during season. And you were actually recooperating at the time of the running....yeah....nice...and the added guilt cause even the innocent were made to run cause of our crime.

I know I had detention once in highschool, but I don't even remember what it was for. Probably wearing the wrong kind of socks or something. (I had to wear a uniform.)

Thanks for the email on the Clinton School. It's weird that he's resigning. I wonder who's gonna do it. I had detention once too. I don't remember why. It's weird when you find out that teachers were just people too. I used to think they had no lives and lived for coming to class every day and putting up with us.
