uncle karl and aunt kat

we had the BEST surprise today. Carter, from our cali family, sent us this guy. He came with a note that started "I belong to the children of Mrs. Hellmann's second grade class. As part of their study of geography, they have decided to send me around the United States...."

So far our new friend has been to Seattle, Alaska, New Mexico, and San Antonio! He stops with us and then down to Florida and then up the east coast (VA, NJ, PA, ME, CT) and then heads back to Cali! What a great project! And what great timing with the perfect southern weather and the marathon news! He even came with a little disposable camera so we could take our pic with him! Quick: Send this yankee some interesting facts about Little Rock! Cali comes with a journal and the first entries were so great - we've got to make ours fabulous! So FUN! i adore!

In 1722 the French explorer, Bernard de LaHarpe, sailed up the Arkansas River and upon sighting the first rock bluff since leaving the Mississippi River, called it "La Petite Roche", the Little Rock. The city's namesake, "La Petite Roche", is located at the north end of Rock Street overlooking the river and is part of the sixteen acre Breckling Riverfront Park.

also our state drink is milk.

that is all the info i have.

This is great. I would give the little guy the latest copy of Arkansas Business for his travels.

No way, is Karl donating his first and only LR Marathon medal to the geography project?! I don't think I could not after just getting it especially. Anyhow, ya'll will think up something wonderful I know, Carter couldn't have picked a better Arkansas home to stop in at...except the Mulhearns' of course, but whatever, not jealous! Put a diamond and maybe a tyson product inside...something Wal-mart...rice... ducks... hmmm...I'll keep thinking.

maybe you could find one of those "i miss bill" buttons at the gift store... and hope no one vandalizes it. but if the little bear is headed to the liberal northeast, the button should remain intact. or you could cut it open, rip out all the stuffing, and replace it with rice. or i miss bill buttons. i should go now.

How creative. You'll have to mention something about the diamond mine. Isn't it like the only one in the country or something?
