this rain is making me nasty!

My friend Megan emailed me this AWESOME t-shirt they are selling in STL in honor of the Series and my parents scored me one when they went to game 3! I can't wait to get there and wear it! Isn't it awesome? Awesome. My favorite word to describe the Cardinals and all paraphenallia associated with them. Not Awesome? Game 4 getting rained OUT last night. Silly storms.

Game 4 folks. We have made it to Thursday. On a work note, our last convention of "convention season" is TODAY!! Our company has done 14 major events since August 1. I never want to look at another Catering Contract AGAIN! Interesting fact of the day: 1 gallon of Orange Juice at the Peabody is $55 dollars. With tax and gratuity it comes to $74.64. Think about THAT next time you drink some innocent orange juice at a convention/meeting!

green green i love green. I will share updated pics when this green room is completed. I must say I am a big fan thus far. Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend! We didn't have much going on and it was kind of fabulous. The Cardinals won game ONE of the World Series and are currently down by 3 in the bottom of the 6th this evening. boo. Not looking good - It is too cold in Detroit for the St. Louisians. Getting excited for this upcoming weekend already - Going to STL for the Whaley Wedding! Going to make the week seem long! Can't wait to see my parents new house with furniture in it and painted walls.

Things that make me sad

Not being able to WAKE UP today despite the fact that it is noon and I got eight plus hours of sleep last night.

Not being BUSY enough. I need a new project to motivate me. Oh wait I already have like 80 lists/projects going and no desire to finish them.

Not taking a full lunch and staying at my office. Makes my day/week seem even longer. When will convention season be OVER?!!

camping = success! we had a fabulous time at maumelle park - so far from home. (like maybe 10 minutes) the weather was puuuurfect (cept for the rain the next morning!) but we set up our tents and made food and fire like pros. just reinforces my desire to be on SURVIVOR! (if only survivor had beer available at all times. beer and sonic breakfast. do you hear that CBS?!)

weekend recap: nothing. we pretty much did nothing! Watched the Razorbacks beat Auburn at Eric and Em's. Watched OU get beat by TX. Watched the Cardinals clinch. clinch it. (on to play the Metty Mets of NY for the NLCS. Starts Wednesday!) Watched the Amazing Race. Ran. Ate. Um. Slept. Nothing much to report folks. All is quiet on the western front (southern?).

Things (Forewarning: HIGHLY self-absorbed nonsense post ahead!)

• We currently have a hole in our wall in our bedroom *between the bedroom and the bathroom* where we had to have someone come fix our bathroom (leaking pipe leaking water in our wall). It is kind of sad to walk into my lovely bedroom and see a GAPING hole.
• 92 degrees yesterday = happy girl!
• I have rediscovered my obsession with Naked Juice. (www.nakedjuice.com). Totally a meal. And quite delicious. No added sugar. 1 pound of fruit in each one! Different “families” of juices to target different things. Yum!
• I might have a new TV show. Discovery Atlas. (www.discoveryatlas.com). Very good. Basically about life in other countries – the premier was about China. I want to go to China. I don’t need another TV show! (And I am considering dropping the “unprecedented” 11th season of 7th Heaven because it is not that wonderful but somehow I am still HANGING ON!) Must. Curb. TV. Addiction.
• This week feels long. I hate to wish time away but I sure wish it was the weekend!

harvest fest to fountain of youth.

saturday night at the fountain! we had a pretty great weekend - nothing to complain about! we stayed in Friday so we could run Saturday. Pretty sure the BIG DAM BRIDGE was shaking and rocking and swaying under the weight of 1,000 plus runners and pretty sure it was PRETTY DAM SCARY especially considering this was the bridge's inagural event and had not been tested before with that much weight (to my knowledge anyway)! But the bridge didn't collapse and Karl and I both finished the race! (Some of us before others...the before person NOT being me. must. get. in. gear. Running with extra body weight slooooooows me down!) after the race we ate lots (food never tastes better when your tummy is so empty. i love post-run eats!) and napped and headed down to hilcrest for the harvest fest (which was not really a festival but more of a glorified block party). It was good though and we hit the fountain before calling it a night! Now I am in my normal Sunday-evening-anxious mood thinking about the loooooong week ahead!

My windows were frosty this morning and I had breathing puffs. BOO. HISS. I had to wear my blanket in the car. Just say NO to cold weather. (Though it has been ABSOLUTELY gorgeous here this week!)

Goals of this weekend:

• Get the Guest Room NEW sheets and comforter put on the bed (cute and on clearance from tar-jey)
• Run in the Big Dam Bridge 5K (http://www.bigdambridge.com/) on Saturday at 10:30. Attempt to NOT die trying to keep up with Karl. (his goal time: 28 minutes. Think I might do 28 and he might do a lot faster. Sigh. This is what I get for watching TV (good TV!!) while he goes out training! (Isn’t running MY thing? I suck at it now!)
• Find a fourth for the Tulsa ROUTE 66 Marathon Relay! (http://www.route66marathon.com/) So far we have Karl, My Self, Audra, and…. (matt price? You in?) November 19th.
• Take my dogs for a looooooong walk. They are so hyper with the weather change.
• Reorganize the guest bedroom and the office closets.
• I am sure there are many more and most have to do with CLEANING. BLAH.

Goals in THE NEAR FUTURE (like next week!)

• Lose a million pounds
• Get my hair cut and colored and my eyebrows waxed off (very exciting)
• Go to the dentist (blah)
• Buy a hutch to put the china from our wedding in (the same china that is mostly still in boxes and THAT is depressing! I am going to use it and SOON.)
• Paint my living room! Any helpers? I will make you fancy dinner on fancy china as a reward!

Goals of my LIFE:

• Start a business that makes me MILLIONS.
• Be on Survivor.
• Keep off the millions of pounds I lost in my NEAR FUTURE goal.
• Um… there are more but I will not share them with you. (Sorry!)

ay yay yay weekend o fun

Fun FUN weekend! We had a great time at our neighbor’s birthday party (with and without the rain). I learned a lot of new cheers from my little cheerleading buddies. I particularly bonded with the one who said “I don’t cheer. I play football” and allowed me to paint those anti-glare lines under her eyeballs instead of pom pons and flowers.

We watched the Razorback game at Eric & Em’s – what a nail biter. I still feel bad for POOR TIFFIN… the Bama kicker who missed three extra points on three separate kicks and allowed the Razorbacks to win by ONE in OT!! Poor kiddo. As Audra said, “someone is keying that guy’s car!” It really was an exciting game and TU won (yea!) in OT as well and the Cardinals lost (boo) and Missouri and Oklahoma won (yea!) and the ND and Mich game was pretty yummy.

The weather was WONDERFUL after it stopped raining and we even made it DOWNTOWN to the Flying Saucer Saturday evening (Well Audra and Melissa and Matt and myself did anyway!) See pics. I am especially in love with the hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil posed pic b/c normally that pose requires SERIOUS faces and we all look quite haughty and silly and I have q-tips like fingers and A looks like she has a fun secret and Melissa looks like a little one playing hide and seek! I title it: Delightfully carefree.

Here are some fun pics from my USGBC Arkansas Seminar at the Clinton Library that happened yesterday. This event was semi-high stress for me but it turned out to be very successful and everyone seemed pleased! (insert sigh of relief!) My review of the Clinton Library staff (both the facilities and the catering) is NOT favorable and I would like to call William Jefferson and let him know. Think he cares? Nah… he is probably worried about more important things than the quality of the food Café 42 provides. Not that big of a deal anyway now that everything is over and done with and everyone is happy.

The pic of the two guys “discussing” was featured in the Arkansas Democrat Gazette this morning (daily news here in the Rock) so we got a little press for this one.

All conferences are OVER (until next Friday) and I am going to relax ALLLLLLL weekend long (and do some laundry and clean my ENTIRE house… hmmm.. this is not sounding relaxing.) We are attending our neighbor Alan’s 10th birthday party at War Memorial (football stadium) on Saturday. Karl is the “Arkansas Razorback” coach and I am going to be the head cheerleader for the little chicas. (Though for the record I think the girls should be playing football if they want to.) I think I am going to bring face paint and tattoo their little faces with footballs. Any thoughts on where to buy face paint?

Did you SEE survivor last night? Most hilarious episode ever. One of my all time favorite survivor moments.

lost in conference land...

i am lost. in. conference. land.

today i had the following problems at my conference:

• My morning food order was short.
• My AV was HORRID and the speakers PowerPoint slides were ITTY BITTY.
• Everytime the conference center messed with the lights in the adjacent room it was like a freaking disco club in my room.
• The Peabody would not let me bring in the bottled water that was part of the sponsorship package for one our vendors. Instead, they charged $3.50 for the EXACT same bottle from the EXACT same company. That is $3.50 before taxes and gratuity. And let me tell you about tax and grat at the peabody - it's hefty!
• The adjacent room was host to a rotary club luncheon event that played the loudest and most annoyingly rotary-riffic music ever that carried thru the walls while the keynote speaker was speaking during our lunch. (not. good.) i mean how do you fix that??!?!? i can't just sound proof the walls on a dime and I certainly didn't schedule the other luncheon!
• My brown wedges = no longer conference shoes = swollen ankles.
• I got up at like 5, was at work at like 6 and got home at like 6 (p.m.). This wouldn't be so bad if I didn't have to do it all over again tomorrow... and Thursday.

I might die! But I am verrrrrrry excited about my Thursday seminar (it's at the Clinton Library!) and all and all things - though crazy - are actually going pretty well overall... sorry if you don't get quick email responses or phone calls from me!

I just accidentally deleted my whole blog entry so I am rewriting and it can’t possibly be as funny as the first time b/c now I am pissy!

1. Happy Birthday BAknight. You are an old lady. Normally Ms. Knight likes to say 10 Days till my birthday 10 days out and so on and so forth until the very day of her birth celebration. She did not do that this year so I must do it for her! I think it is because she is apprehensive about her aging OBLS.
2. Ms. Wacqueline Wells – ATTORNEY at LAW. Congrats! Let’s start rehearsing for your commercials!
3. Ms. Susan Day Mulhearn is celebrating her last week as an ABPG employee! Congrats to her! The ABPG Alumnae is an elite crew and cultural phenomenon! HH tonight!
4. Homecoming = this weekend. Word. (insert sigh of happiness). Karl is playing the annual KA actives vs. alum game Saturday morning while I will be drinking a beer and setting up a tent. TU will be playing at 6 p.m. and they might even be (gasp) sold out.
5. Karl ran 5 miles on Sunday and I am very happy for him. I am also very annoyed because it is supposed to be ME that is good at running and working out because HE is better than ME at everything else. Sigh. Please give him a slap on the booty (congratulatory sports slap on the booty) for me since my own booty has been glued to my couch for the past two months.
6. People are moving in and out of houses all around the nation and I am very happy for all of them (and extra (selfishly) happy that we don’t have to help any of them move!)

Lots of changes, Max, Lots of Changes. There are many other things going on but these are the six that I chose for today, Tuesday, September 12, 2006: Brooke’s Birthday.

I will have you know I went to bed at 7:00 p.m. last night and slept straight thru till this morning at 7:00 a.m. And I just might do it again tonight. I have floaty head.

I told Karl yesterday I would give him $100 if he would buy me a Little Skeezers pizza and not talk to me for the rest of the evening. On a positive note, THE LAST freaking UNICORN (one of my favorite movies of ALL time) was playing on a movie channel last night so I ate my Skeezers and watched the Last Unicorn and Sprout network until I sweat myself into sleep under four pounds of blankets!

I am very glad it is the weekend! Anyone else kind of like Kayne’s dress on Project Runway? Call me TACKY but I did!

NYC. NYC. NYC.

WOW!! We did a lot of touristy things. At first I was worried about looking too touristy and well, small town, but EVERYONE had maps and there were toursits everywhere especially on a holiday weekend! so i just gave in to it! the weather was great (excluding saturday when it rained from morning to night and we got soaked running around!)

Some highlights:

- sitting on top of the bus and taking the hop-on and hop-off tour thru both uptown and downtown

- the producers (broadway musical)

- the Met and MOMA

- Central Park (quite possibly my favorite thing about the whole trip - just the concept of it is so wonderful

- Ground Zero (not much there even five years later)

- Riding the SUBWAY. I found this cheapo and fun. Do you think LR will get public transport like that any time soon?

- Millions of different places and faces!

- THE FOOD! We spent way too much money on food. Oh well!

There are lots of pics! We tried not to go too overboard with the camera! (Trust me I have MORE!)

On a side note, the one thing that was annoying was people's faces when we told them we were from arkansas. i guess i never have really gotten the FULL on perception of the Natural State on the East Coast. It was somewhat ridiculous. We are smart and educated and have jobs and money and own homes and cars. (hello we function just like they do... possibly better!?!?!) I mean what do they freaking think? One of 'them' I told I was originally from Missouri and they were then ok.... somehow being from one state up *yankee town* made it all okay.

We are alive!

Mucho traveling. Mucho cleaning and laundry yesterday and some yummy Damgoode pies with Matt and Melissa and then some hanging out in the GORGEOUS weather on the front porch with Kristen and E-beth! So. Nice. out. Must run MILES AND MILES.

I will update with pictures from the NYC trip soon. In case you were wondering I am IN LOVE with the NYC. LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT. I would live there in a heart beat.

• A Wall Street broker (on the 900th floor please!)

• A writer (in a cyber café of course)
• A cab driver (HAHA just kidding!)
• A person that yells at other people to STAY IN LINE. (these people are everywhere!)
• A firewoman and/or police woman.
• A stroller mommy in the stroller mommy workout club (there were like 100 women with strollers in one big group workout in the Park. It was hilarious and wonderful)
• One of those models that gets in the pictures that are on the side of buildings! AAAAH! scrary thought. A 12 story picture of ME!

This morning has NOT been a fabulous morning.

My lovely and wonderful boss chewed me out this morning for not printing THIS logo in color on some event information (nametags and signage and such) for the NWA event. Do you even SEE COLOR in this logo? I almost cried because I have been working my ass (booty) of on this event for the past month (it was originally supposed to have about 50-75 people attending and now there are 170 and some of that is MY DOING dangit!). And then I thought: You know what if someone at the NWA meeting notices that this logo does not have a hint of light green in it then they have serious problems. So there.

Additionally, if I know you and you are a TU Alum and you are reading this blog and you haven’t filled out your homecoming information for the homecoming blog I will be forced to murder you while you sleep. Ok not really but it honestly takes like, um, maybe ten seconds to answer the questions. You really don’t even have to send a picture. Really it takes me and brooke much longer to write threatening paragraphs like this one and send out emails and bullitens and THEN spend our PRECIOUS time actually posting it to the blog. So, really, no big deal. Telling all your friends that you talk to all the time is very difficult.

WOW! Sorry about that whole thing just now. HAHAHA.

Also, this is my 400th post! And my doggies are now ONE year old. Happy Birthday Arlo and Roxy. I dubbed their birthday 8/22 since 22 is my favorite #. We aren’t really sure exactly but close enough. They got new BONES. I think they knew.

Let me know your RECOMMENDATIONS if you have ever been there and have a favorite place.

My camera is taking a short vacation in stillwater, ok. (it wants to see the world PEOPLE!) so you are just going to have to READ. I also have no time to blog as it is Monday lunch and Mondays suck and are busy. However, I do have a plethora of things to blog over the next week so you just keep your pants on. (because naturally you would have the urge to take them off due to your horrible impatience at my lack of blogging and run around your offices sans trousers)

For the record, the weekend was fabulous. Friday we went out and about in Little Rock. We actually made it downtown if you can believe that. We stayed up till 3 or so and then got up at like 8, drove to T-town (karl, blake, and myself), went and ate a delish johnnie’s hamburger (extra cheeeeese please), set up for the itchy & scratchy party celebrating seven years of friendship, partied at the itchy party till about 3, slept, went to Quick Trip for a FOUNTAIN DRINK! (gawd I love QT!), came home, ate some skeezers (yum!) pizza, and went to bed at like 8 or 9. I think my caloric intake for the weekend may have exceeded what most eat in a month. Brooke was an awesome hostess… we should all send her lots of love (especially those of us who may or may not have poured calamine lotion all over tortilla chips and then tried to get people to eat them).

finally a picture from last weekend! mary, su, and me....note me and su singing into our domestic bottles.. yee haw! per usual! isn't she the greatest? but the bowling alley surely didn't play country... only teeny bopper raptastic songs... which i am now too old to know ANY of them aparantly. chamilionarre: who's THAT guy? aparantly he is old news anyway. someone please keep me in the know about music... wait. what am i talking about? his. name. is. chamilionarre. and i no longer frequent dirty fraternity parties.

my husband is freaking hilarious. god only knows what he just said... but aparantly it was HUMUROUS.

I have all these cute pictures just sitting in my camera. I can’t get them out of there! HELP!!! I just want to shake the little camera! GIVE. ME. MY. PICTURES.

So it is Wednesday but I have been waiting and hoping my camera cord would be found so I could blog some piccys. I better find it before the itchy and scratchy show this weekend. Because I fully intend on using all of my 2G memory card.

So the weekend was nice.. maybe someday I will have pictures to show you…and blake and matt and lindsAy are all HERE from the coast. (haha…I just wanted to say “from the coast” or “from the Carolinas”!) Monday night we ate at Cheers and played shuffleboard at The Fountain. And they all came over to our house for a bbq last night… along with everyone else… thanks to everyone who brought food on short notice…eric’s deviled eggs were yummo and leah’s brownies were delish-e-ous… and audra and kristen’s bags of chips were AMAZING. It’s awesome how fast you can throw together a meal for like 15 people when everyone throws something in….love it.

I can’t wait for the week to be over! Anyone else feel like it is going FOREVER!?!!?

My parents bought us an anniversary present: Tickets to the Cards and Cubs game on our anniversary! (And we get to fly in!) Isn’t that fun? There is nothing like the cards and cubs rivalry. Sigh. $8 Beer here I come! I can’t wait to finally see the new stadium.

The plethora of blogging lately has got me in the mood. To blog. I love it!

First of all I want to say HAPPY ANNI (10 years!) to Mary Kay and Rea Graves! We went to dinner with them last night at Bene Vita. (after I went to HH at stickyz w/ su and audra and megan and alissa and elana!) MK and Rea are so wonderful and we hope they had a fabulous anniversary!

This morning at approximately 7:45 AM good ole Sally the Saturn would not start. Engine wouldn’t even turn over. We are 99% sure it is the battery (I’m fine DADDY-o!) but me driving the TRUCK is always humorous. Always.

I just checked the weather. Little Rock says 95. Feels like 105! AND IT IS STORMING something AWFUL…lot o thunder! THE RAIN IS COMING DOWN in downtown LR. Smells delicious! Yea for rain. Let’s take a Friday afternoon poll.. is this crazy nationwide heat wave global warming? Personally I like the heat. Pretty much even this hot. Pretty sure I would survive when the rest of you bitches (excuse me) were passed out on the sidewalk from heat exhaustion. Okay I better post before we freaking lose power!

Is correct. I didn’t go to the movies for approximately 5 years… maybe more…. From the time I was about 12 or 13 until - hmmmm - college maybe? I found them dirty and gross and claustrophobic! I think it is b/c I saw some Dateline story about guys sticking hypodermic needles in the movie seats in darkened theaters and injecting unsuspecting high school girls with AIDS or date rape drugs or something. (Yea that’s right I thought I was going to get “injected with the AIDS”…probably by the skinny, 6 ft tall black man in the 'navy' coat and hat. Thanks DATELINE!! for teaching me about AIDS and racial profiling!!) Anyway, I still don’t go that often and I really like to sit on the aisle - unless the theater is empty and I am sharing my popcorn with Elizabeth.

was FUNNY. Really better than I expected. I laughed out loud several times. You should go. If you are into that kind of thing. It is Ten Things I Hate About you kinda FUNNY. (ok, it’s not nearly THAT good but it gets CLOSE and Sophia Bush from One Tree Hill on the WB (yea that’s right One Tree Hill on the WB) is my girlfriend). Gawd, profile ME with all the teeny boppers that love high school movies and the freaking WB! “They” GET ME EVERY TIME!

SHHHH… don’t tell anyone but I might go see JOHN TUCKER MUST DIE tonight. And eat lots of EXTRA BUTTER EXTRA SALT movie theater popcorn. With an enormous Coca-Cola classic. (for the low low price of like $20) Sigh. Guilty pleasures! Then I am watching Project Runway b/c it is A GOOD SEASON and I am addicted.

Guess what? Less than 6 months till Christmas! You hate me now don’t you? Start your shopping NOW! We will wait till Dec. 23rd. Or later. If you even get a card/gift at all! We are bad at Christmas. We didn't even have a tree last year.
