i want to laugh like this. please and thank you. when you can't even tell if you are laughing or crying and it hurts your belly. instead, i am going to bed early. ugh. i don't feel good and i don't like it one bit. my body is falling apart at age 26. how in the world do people make it to 100? it might be 7:00 p.m. and i might be going to BED! i guess my body is just in need of rest - i slept past noon both saturday and sunday and felt like a lazy laggard slothful shiftless sack artist (thanks thesaurus dot com... a sack artist? wth?).

i think we broke 100 degrees today.... the heat index was well over! it's all sweaty up in arkansas. we are drinking lots of wata.

um. good night? i promise to be more myself at a later date.

welcome to august...

it's coming - like it or not! it is stifling here in the natural state and i can't seem to catch a breath.

i have some possible answers (self diagnosed! ha!) about my chest pain which i have been reluctant to share on the blog. because it's embarrassing. because some people who read don't know i WAS a smoker. yesterday was my official one month of no smoking. so i have been reading all these articles about anxiety and withdraw symptoms (including chest tightness and shortness of breath - some people have to "learn" how to breathe deep again and i think i might fall in that category - i guess smokers only breath deep when the are inhaling on a cigarette so when they stop they have to practice deep breathing. who knew?). as most of you know i hadn't even been smoking very much (mainly socially but that is still smoking). I went cold turkey july 4th - which means more withdraw symptoms and faster. ANYWAY i am still monitoring myself (blah) and the tightness... taking deep breaths does feel weird - it's so clean.... ha! i'm not that surprised with my reactions - aparently i am very sensitive to drugs - putting them in or taking them out!

anyway i thought quitting would be a lot easier but it's not. i am just starting to tell people so please don't be mad at me if i slip. however, after all this chest crap, picking up a cigarette seems pretty silly.

wednesday is here and almost gone! i haven't felt like doing too much after work this week... sorry if i have been slow to return phone calls and emails. i am in recovery (*drama alert) from my still present but less scary chest issue. it's fine. i promise. you know what it makes me want to do though? it makes me want to train for a marathon or something... skydive, bungee jump, swim for miles, play soccer.... pretty much anything physical.

has anyone seen high school musical? it's on TV right now. and i'm watching it. yep. i am.

anyone else have any news? will A Rod hit #500? the cards are six games behind the stinking cubs in the nlc. the cubs!?!? i mean really. the gap is closing. it needs to close faster. and the brewers don't need to beat the mets tonight. my dogs are dirty. they need a bath. my laundry is clean but NOT FOLDED (why oh why is the folding part so incredibly difficult?). it feels like we always have something TO CLEAN. house, car, dogs, selves.. bLah. i think we are going back to NYC for our anniversary. may become a tradition!! one of the days we might just stay there.

ok so here is some FOOD for thought (hmmmmmm. fooooooooooooood. must be lunch time.)

i had a great and wonderful and fabulous weekend in tulsa. everything was stress free and relaxing and fun. we hung out, brought mom jan a card and some fruit to send her off to texas, walked around campus, had a three hour lunch at a cute little establishment where board games were available *and you know we played apples to apples for hours*, saw a cute chicky flicky (the waitress: horribly horribly predictable but who knew keri russell was such a great actress? i liked), um... drank some beer, laughed a lot, made a sunday brunch at jennifers, and some other stuff.

i am looking at our funny recreation of college pictures that we took on TU's campus. and i just have to admit that we look, um, grown up. and by grown up i don't mean OLD but i do mean older. i am facing it. we look older. but i don't FEEL like we look older. is this making sense? i don't look at my friends and see an older person where i used to see a little 18 year old. or do i? and for some reason 18 seems really young right now to just ship your kids off to college! HA. i bet mike and linda get a kick out of that line!

thank god people will still card me (ask me for ID) until I'm at least 50. (and i almost typed 30 there and then freaked OUT a bit b/c, well, that is not so far away!)

OLGC (our lady of good counsel) - it's no longer in existence. that is sad. BUT i'm down front on the right - in the HIGH WAISTED, TIGHT ROLLED, very light colored (i refuse to say acid washed on my blog) jeans with the classy RIBBED turtleneck BODYSUIT (oh yea it snapped on) and my white socks and indoor (LOTTO) soccer shoes. and you wonder why they voted me to play mary in the living stations of the cross? i mean JUST LOOK AT ME.

sigh. i will be there in august for a family wedding - my cousin chris (son of butch and jayne) and his lovely bride melissa will be married on my parents anniversary. karl and i were married on butch and jayne's anniversary. i like it and i can't wait to celebrate!

cotton candy, beer, nachos, peanuts, cracker jacks

ms. kristy made it in town for the weekend. we had a great time relaxing, EATING, and hanging out at the ball park! we sat in the grass for the first time and i must say it was highly enjoyable. good game - the travs won. NOT THAT I AM FOLLOWING THEM. :)

anyway, i had to go to the doccy doctor on friday b/c of my chest pains. (i was getting my hair cut and had another fainty heart racy shortness of breath/trouble deep breathing episode.... i told the hair dresser i was nauseous so she didn't freak out if i said chest pain; she told me to take a pregnancy test. the doc did an EKG (perfect) and a pregnancy test (negative) took blood to check for thyroid and all that jazz but i checked out perfect so still not sure. they suggested anxiety but i really have NOTHING stressful or anxious going on.... and i think it is weird b/c the tightness in pretty constant. i am still feeling some tightness even tonight... ugh. really, really pissing me off. i took it easy all weekend but am going to try my workouts this week.

nevertheless kristy and i had a great visit. i took a lazy sunday afternoon nap. the weekend is coming to a close. i have nothing to complain about!

Claus Update

Claus will be arriving on Saturday August 11th around noon. We will have a "party" at our house starting Saturday afternoon sometime. I know everyone will want to be involved, so Kat and I (i just volunteered her) will call everyone to figure out who should bring what.

I can't believe that the last time I saw Claus we were in High School, so this time we can buy the beer legally!!! =)

tonight while we were making breakfast for dinner, karl opens the microwave, where my bacon continued to "cook" for two minutes longer than his, pulls out a greaseless piece, looks at its beautiful, charred (almost black) edges doubtfully and says: "babe, i don't think this kind of bacon is actually made to cook any longer." CRUNCH.

the movie was good. i think it was probably better for the hard core hp-ers. it was somber - defiantely the most serious thus far. and there was minimal teenage love drama, which, as stated previously, is my favorite part. the effects and direction were pretty awesome i must admit! more news lata!

fourth of july was a long and fun week. too much, too much. work wasn't always pleasant with all that fun going on. melissa made it in town from the nola and the fourth bbq was a smashing success. good food, good friends, more good food, wii playing. we do have pictures to prove that she was here i swear. they are just ugly and on her camera. i failed to take a single pic! - not even one - at the bbq. boo. hiss. thanks to all who were able to come hang out.

karl's sister and her family are also in town. we hit a traveler's baseball game. the guy next to us had a heart attack - er, chest pains - and had to be removed via stretcher from the bleachers. it was frightening. the game was pretty boring until the travs clinched it in the bottom of the ninth.. schweet.

tonight i am watching - in case you are interested - the MLB all star game *go pujols* and the second star wars (episode 5). karl is forcing me to experience star wars (i've never seen one - er that i can remember!). i am watching them the way they were released and just finished epi four. (the first film from the 70s). we had a long debate about which order to watch them. i know i have seen some of them; i just can't recall. my brain is too full of things to remember - like every single line of dirty dancing, the breakfast club, and the last unicorn. sigh. i can't be expected to remember it all. i must make up for years of forcing karl to watch movies like ten things i hate about you. god, i'm a sucker for plotless teen drama. i can't get enough!

and, holy crap, happy three year anni to john and leslie. check out their cute wedding pics on the robus blog. i can't believe it has been three years. we miss you guys.

stl magazine featured my cousin anna & her new salon as the "best of the best" in their last issue! pretty sweet, eh? we are so proud!

this is my last post

i've decided to stop blogging. ok, not really, but that is what it feels like. it's been busy with a weird middle-of-the-week holiday kind of week. it feels like i should have to go to work tomorrow. but i'm sure glad i don't have to do so.

here's a secret. last weekend i snuck into st. louis on a 7 a.m. Saturday morning flight. The reason? Cousins WEEKEND! Last year, you may remember if you have been reading for awhile, we hit memphis and tunica and hung out with a rod steward tribute band. this year, there were two pregnant chicas so hitting the bars wasn't really an option! i was only in the city for about 24 hours so it was a strictly family only kind of trip. i had breakfast with my parents, lunch with my grandparents (and others), dinner and a sleepover with the girls in troy. as a bonus, i got to see my other grandpa and cousin matt and his pregnant wife stephanie on sunday before we left for the airport. that is three preggos in a span of 24. it was slightly stressful (in the sense that the baby fevah was in every corner 0f every room and all the places in between!). they all look great and all swore they were feeling good - all three lovelies are due within a month of each other! one boy, one girl, and one surprise. and so the family grows.

there was some dancing, some swimming, some eating, and little sleeping!

4th of July BBQ

We will be having a blow out bbq on July 4th at our house. Ok, maybe not a blowout but it will be a lot of fun. We'll start around 1:00pm, so bring your favorite drinks and fireworks and let's party!! And yeah, that's a motor on that grill

chicken and biscuits for breakfast

well, the quest for free chicken sandwiches was unsuccessful. there were tents and cops and a crap load of people last night who were in it for the long haul so karl just settled for a nice chicken breakfast biscuit (ew) and some free sandwich coupons. i guess his love of chic-fil-a isn't that strong after all.

in other news, we are having family over for dinner tonight to play the wii. yep. the wii. another item we weren't willing to stand in line for but somehow it made it's way to our living room due to some persistent phone calls to the best buy, toys r us, and others. shipments come in on sunday in case you want one and they go fast. grown men inquiring if nunchucks are in stock makes me roll my eyes in fake disgust.

beware: hilarious reading ahead

karl and i have strong words about chic-fil-a. he loves it, i hate it. (sorry c-f-a lovers but blech!) anyway (try not to tear your eyes away from the following very important information about our exciting lives in little rock).... a free-standing c-f-a is opening. across the street from the mall. yea. the mall - as in one and only in town. the mall that already houses a chic-fil-a within its food court. the grand opening of said stand alone store is tomorrow morning (yes, chic-fil-a has breakfast. ew.) and they are promising "FREE CHIC FIL A FOR A YEAR" to the first 100 customers. Karl really really wants to go and for some reason i find that absolutely hysterical. in a fun, off the wall who-really-wants-to get up at like 6am to go to freaking Chic Fil A kind of way. (I refuse.) I will keep you posted on the race for a whole year of nasty chicken sandwiches. If you like in Little Rock and are thinking about going, don't. Karl Hills will hunt you down.

if you know me well enough you may have seen me in this position before

i was looking through some old pictures to try and find something fun and different to update with and i found this shot. a little slice of silence, a book, a fuzzy robe, multiple blankets (one of the hello kitty variety, one of the stl rams variety in this case), my trusted David sunflower seeds & a spit cup (my addiction - sunflower seeds; just typing this blog has forced me to go dig through the cabinets to get to my secret stash - i am eating them as i type), and (gasp) a DOG at my feet. sometimes i am still shocked that i own two monstorous animals - i used to run screaming from the smallest of dogs. i hope your weekends (respectively) have a few quiet moments with some of your favorite things before another hectic week begins!

i did play some softball this morning (we lost terribly & it was freaking hot at noon o' clock) and now we're getting ready to hit the trav's game this evening!

Getting an EARLY start on those bday wishes

i talked to sarah tonight and wished her a happy early birthday. she said "just twelve more hours until i am 26..." and then we joked about how neither of us would be awake at midnight... tee hee. true story. i know i won't. i'm TIRED. old ladies. who. love. meeeeeeeeeat. quite possibly my favorite picture of the engagement party!

Let's see... here is what is going on with us lately.

• karl and i went to trivia night at the flying saucer last night... we did better than we thought! not the winning team but good. it was like (gasp) a date! (yes, mom, in a bar. my mom is convinced - based on the pics on my blog - that all we do is go out and party... i swear we are much more boring.)
  
• sammy sosa just hit his 600th homerun... and his first homerun ever against the Cubs!! (545 of 600 homeruns were hit as a Cubbie)
• i have almost won a free tshirt for completing "The Amy Challenge" at my gym. Amy is the GM and her challenge is pretty hard core... including 300 MAN pushups, 600 crunch/bicycles, four three mile runs, some yoga (yuck), four 45 minute cardio sessions, a bunch of classes... thirty minutes of jumpropes... lunges... um... there is more. You have a month to do it and my spidey bite threw me off so i am currently completing "two-a-days" to finish. BUT I WILL GET THAT FREE TSHIRT. and loose absolutely zero pounds in the process. how does that HAPPEN?
  
• i am looking forward to a quiet-ish weekend. maybe getting SOME SUN on my pale skin.
  
• work is insane. i like the deadlines though - turn in a publication - it's DONE. (put a fork in it.)
  
• the NBA draft is soon. i don't even like the NBA that much but i have recently become addicted to watching ESPN. well re-addicted really.

Prayers and Thoughts Everywhere

i had another reaction to my second antibiotic and puked all morning and had blurred vision all day. it was AWESOME. i made the executive decision to stop taking them (the bite is fine) and just go buy some natural immune boosters (like cheese fries and beer. er. vitamins.) in case there is any reaction left. stupid drugs.

that being said, there are lots of friends and family members in need of prayers lately... not sure what is in the air lately... waves of things seem to be happening. i have gotten several emails in the last few days asking for prayers for friends and friends' family members and have several family members fighting illness. we were talking at the party about how we were all having medical issues and falling apart.

makes me feel lucky to just have a little spidey bite and some vomiting.

AND my sister is coming tomorrow!!! All the way from MILWAUKEE where it is only 80 degrees as opposed to 94! ;)

i didn't get many shots. i wish you could be there to see the cuteness b/c i don't feel it is portrayed appropriately in the pictures. specifically, you can't see the beer tubs, the cute chili pepper lights (you can kinda see them in the second pic), the beautiful tacky-ness of the silk flowers, the bright colors of the mexican blankets and color everyWHERE, and brooke's scrumptious margaritas. we didn't get to sit at these fab tables too long before a small storm blew in. weather man said chance of rain was about zero percent; karl swears he saw rotation! hahaha. the sky was slightly greenish... eh.. well....what can you do?

um. yea, so the nacho average party was dampened slightly by my trip to a Tulsa Urgent Care center, and, subsequently, another trip to the GP today (I finally have one in Little Rock!). I got bit by a spider or some sort of insect or something - no one could really tell me but they did give me some antibiotics that i had a nasty reaction to (read: the left half of my body = completely numb, specifically my left arm and lots and lots of nausousness). no fun but my drugs *yuck* are now switched and my leg is considerably less swollen (read: i can now almost walk without limping), so all is right with the world again.

playing softball in the rain is the best

saturday included a double header with the old ABPG softball team (karl & i both played) - my first game of the season (we won the first, lost the second - close game though!) it rained pretty much the whole time, and i must admit, i love playing sports in the rain. (well, when it is warm and there is no lightning anyway! i think i remember one time playing a soccer tournament (back in the day) in the snow and i don't remember that being very pleasant) the field was dirty and muddy, we got dirty and muddy: it was fun. i didn't have to pitch (yea! the pressue!)... but i did catch (and get hit in the head with the ball!). Pretty much I played like crap. The above pics - Mark on deck & posing for the camera and me and Pirnique covered in mud and rain! Don't we look pretty!?!? I sure felt pretty... well, alive anyway!

i bought my first pair of boots!

so, the verdict on riverfest: it was a blast! i had a great time. i do love country music and i got me some BOOTS - the real kind! audra also bought a pair (hers are the brown, mine are the black) so we can trade. we saw montgomery gentry, keith anderson, blake shelton, and surprise guest miranda lambert (who came out during blake's encore!). we didn't see too many fights - just some red neck loving! (as evidenced by picture #2 - i couldn't resist the shot - they were so happy!)

ALSO SUSAN & SETH WELCOMED LITTLE MAN SETLER TO THE MULHEARN FAMILY! I think we are going to head to Conway Regional this afternoon to sneak a peek at the wee one. Pics to follow (or you can check them on the Day Family blog in my links section). So exciting!

we are family

lots happening in the cronin family and stl world. send your thoughts and prayers to this guy (my cousin aaron) and my uncle who just went thru some extensive transplant surgeries. they are both in recovery but could use your thoughts and well wishes. surgery was expected but surgery is surgery and it makes us all nervous! i wish i was there to sneak them fast food and cell phones into the hospital. ;)

my aunt and my mom both celebrate bdays (aunt jayne was yesterday and mom is tomorrow!). cousin jake and his wife jenny found out they are having a BOY! cousin bridget finds out the sex of her baby next week. sister jen got a bonus at work and baby is coming to little rock in june! i think that is all the news and i feel removed from it and sad about it. especially since karl has been in chicago ALL WEEK. i want to go to yankee-land.

BUT on a positive note, karl got an earlier flight back and will now be arriving at 5 p.m. instead of 10 p.m. so i am very happy about that! AND we have a three day weekend so it's time to go to work around the house! riverfest (musical festival) is here this weekend with lots of musical guests (pat benatar! george clinton & the p funk allstars! ll cool j! blake shelton! um... some other randoms... smashmouth... UM. Ruben Studard. none that sound that appealing to me. when did i lose my love of outdoor concerts and festivals? Probably when i started drinking beer and having to use port a pottys - does that make me old?!? plus, the last time i went to a concert in Arkansas, i was a bit shocked by the sheer force of rednecks AND they sold spit cups for 50 cents. oh AND the child - yes, child - next to me puked in his beer cup. and my ears were assulted by hey ya'lls and yee haws! tee hee. :)

weekend of love

at the ball park! we attempted to go to Valentine's in the new Dickey Stephens stadium in NLR but it was unfortunately full on friday evening. however, we did sneak a peek at the new stadium and it is pretty awesome! and i'm pretty excited to go to some games this season!

we also hit the greek food festival (yum!) and ran around town. the time went by way too fast and now we are on to another exciting work week. i am not feeling the bloggy blog inspiration today so i promise a more inclusive and amusing update tomorrow.

GORGEOUS GREENERY

sigh. the weather here. i can't even explain it. it is that perfect. it makes me look out the window and smile. GORGEOUS! i wish i could say that things in my yard are blooming and growing but alas gardening is so not my forte. i try to love it. i try to make it work but everything dies and i don't understand why. i would never cut it in the landscaping business. i'm more of a take a nap in the yard or read a book on the porch kinda girl. does that make me lazy? i promise to try harder. i even have tools!

things are crazy as always around casa de hills. i have the invites out for jenny and jeff's engagement party and as soon as jennifer gets it in the mail which will be soon i hope b/c the stupid auto machine at the post office is not yet spitting out 41 cent stamps and i am not waiting in line to buy stamps when i could just push two buttons and insert my debit card and the little magic machine does its business. more sighing. i guess i should just wait in the stupid line and get over it, huh? i know you are all dying to see the invites and you should be, really, because they are freaking adorable. soon, friends, soon. i will wait in line tomorrow. i promise.

oh, and, AND, i finally had a good experience at the Kinko's in Little Rock (three years later!) while getting aforementioned invites printed. My new BFF's name is Ramon at Kinko's. I will call ahead to make sure he is working next time I go there b/c the rest of the Kinko's Team pretty much can't print a document correctly to save their lives. michael and linda horan will be arriving in LR on Friday afternoon. (Rumor has it!) Any suggestions for events around town? I will invite you. I promise.

Susan, Seth, & Setler

Um.. hello little Setler! Knock, Knock. Come outta there! We had dinner with Su and Seth and baby Setler last night. Yummmmmmmmmmmm. It was delish and little man Mulhearn is ready to come out. I just know it! I want to know who will win the baby pool! Definately not me - my mom, linda, was due with me - baby kathleen (or brian or kevin or matthew if i was a boy! they didn't know.) on May 26th (also my mom linda's bday) but i was obviously May 4th - so i picked May 4 in the Mulhearn baby pool; alas it has passed! If you didn't get to participate in the baby pool for Baby Setler please leave your time of birth, date of birth, and baby weight in the comment section. She is currently 1 cm dialated and 80% effaced - whatever that means! ;)

Mama I'm coming hooooome

happy mama's day to all the mama's and soon to be mama's out there. i will be celebrating belatedly when my mama comes to visit this weekend!! this week is promising to be BUSY. updates soon including footage from upcoming travs games, friends in town, parents in town, bachelorette, and going away parties!

Retreat 2007

the annual company retreat happened my first week back - how lucky is that? this year we were in heber springs, arkansas on greers ferry lake. we had a two day conference, some golf playing (we were the only girl team and pretty loud on the course...oops. we tended to get excited after good hits! luckily, it was only other people from work on the course and they just laughed at us).

hole #2 was my favorite.... it is the top picture. the tee was on a bluff and you could see straight out to the lake! oh, and, it was only like 150 yards of the ball floating through the air. it was the only hole we almost made par. please note i said almost! we played the front nine (well i think we wound up playing like six since it was taking us a little long!) good times, good times.

retreat is always a good time. the beer comes out, the hair gets let down.... it's quite fun to see your co workers that way. good way to get to know them and all that!

i promise pictures and updates from florida soon. promise. my flights back to little rock were long and delayed. delta airlines is not my favorite nor is the atlanta airport. especially when one might be a teensy bit hungover. blah.

tomorrow is kind of a big day at casa de hills. karl and i will both be starting new jobs - on the same day. which is pretty entertaining. even more entertaining is that we will both (on the same day) be returning to companies who have previously employed us (respectively). yep, i know i have blogged about my own job change but I haven't mentioned that karl also will be changing things up a bit - starting tomorrow. he will go back to being a stephens employee and i will go back to being an arkansas business employee. kinda funny how things worked out like that, huh?

officially past the quarter of a century mark

and what better way to celebrate? we slept in, went to the beach, ate a late lunch (bloody marys required!), went back to the beach (took naps on the beach), went to the gym and worked out and are now on our way to eat again. eating, sleeping, and swimming. what more could a girl want?

May Day! May Day! Everybody do Pole Dances!

i'm ready. packing right now. i am the worlds worst packer - always wait until the last second, throw random, non-matching things in bags/suitcases, have the mentality that eh-i'll just buy it or borrow it when i get there. so usually my out of town outfits are even less put together than normal everyday outfits. which isn't saying much!

i am wearing my signature peace pipe shirt (best 25 cents i EVER spent) and flip flops. i, of course, overslept and have to run a bunch of last minute errands on this cloudy, wet day! cross your fingers it is sunny in florida.

i am only 25 years old for two more days! OLD. I will be bringing my camera and mac book so you most likely will get a blog update of mere and me while I am there!
